Redwood

Sequoia sempervirens

This large and beautiful fog loving coastal tree growing 180-270 feet is capable of growing root shoots which may develop into big trees. Cones are produced on shorter side branches that have shorter needles. Needles are scale like immediately below the cones and at the tips. The regular needles are flat, stiff, and up to 1 1/4 inches long.
To sprout the seeds, plant the seeds in a deep container with soil mix kept moist. Provide partial shade for the first year.
