To sprout the seeds, heat water to 180 degrees, turn off the heat, dump in the seeds, wait 12 hours, place the seeds in a plastic bag filled with moist but not wet mix of 1/3 sand, 1/3 soil, 1/3 humus, and refrigerate for 2 months, and then plant the seeds in a deep container with soil mix kept moist.
Redbud branches are used by California Indians to make baskets. The branches are soaked, peeled, and then split for weaving in a time consuming process that can produce a watertight basket with the beautiful red bark of the Redbud showing.
